Rediscovering the jungle

Scientifics working in Indonesia recorded images of a rare monkey that none had ever seen.
The pictures were taken by chance because the scientifics weren't looking for this monkey,
they just set up camera traps to take pictures of all the wildlife known in the Wehea forest, but instead
they found an "extinct" monkey.

The only images found of this rare specie were museum sketches. At first they were all shocked,
"The fact that, wow, this monkey still lives, and also that it's in Wehea", said one of the scientifics.
Forests in which the monkeys once lived had been destroyed by fires, human encroachment and
conversion of land for agriculture and mining.
"For me, the discovery of this monkey is representative of so many species in Indonesia," Loken said.
"There are so many animals we know so little about, and their home ranges are disappearing so quickly.
It feels like a lot of these animals are going to quickly enter extinction."
